As we continue our series on clowns, let’s pause from the history lessons and have some dastardly and disturbing fun, shall we?
One of my bestest friends is absolutely terrified of clowns. Terrified.It’s an actual phobia called coulrophobia.
Evil clowns…. let’s look at some favorites.\
1. Killer Klowns From Outer Space
What more needs to be said? They’re clowns from outer space, they kill and it’s the 80s. What’s not to love?

2. Mr. Jelly
I do not know a single other human being who actually knows of the show Psychoville, although if you’re a brit you might. It is… i have no words. It’s like a really, really dark, comedy serial. It’s by the team who did League Of Gentlemen which i have no doubt you also don’t know. I only know of LoG because a guy i knew who was Mannish (Isle of Man. Do not call him British. He gets quite persnickety about that.) recommended it.
If you are in the mood for something COMPLETELY different, and i mean that, go check out BBC’s Psychoville. In any case there is clown in it called Mr. Jelly and he is awesome. Awesomely a dick.

3. That damn clown toy from Poltergeist.

4. Conrad Veidt, The Man Who Laughs.
This is likely the one you don’t know. It’s a 1928 film based on a very obscure book by Victor Hugo. What makes this worth mentioning, is that Conrad Veidt plays a guy whose lips were cut off by gypsies. Thus he always smile a creepy smile. Why is this important? Because this is where Bob Kane got the idea for The Joker.

5. The Godamned Joker
yeah, most you won’t catch that, don’t worry. Anyway, Heath Ledger’s The Joker is AWESOME. One of top movie villains of all time. How good was he? It was a comic book movie, with a bloody superhero dresses like a giant bat in order to beat up criminals, and yet Ledger’s Joker actually scared the shit out of me. Seriously, not scared in a like, Exorcist kind of way, but i was shocked to find myself honestly unnerved.
