Clearly having all 3 operas in one package is the preferred package. Far and away.
So, last thing to throw out:
The obvious and most elegant method of organizing the operas is to have half an opera on each disc. Disc 1: first 2 acts of steampunk. Disc 2: Act 3 & 4. Disc 3: First half of Dieselpunk (it splits at The Bust) etc. So nice and neat. Three operas, 6 discs, but no room for the 4th album, which i might add, is a rather excellent addition to the mythos.
But then it occurred to me (it would probably occur to most other people sooner but my daftness cannot epic in its scale) if i forgo this elegance, there IS a way to put all 4 albums on 6 discs (A disc being 79 minutes of audio and that time cannot be negotiated.
Disc 1: Act 1, 2 & 3 of Steampunk. Disc 2: Act 4 of Steampunk, Act 1 and half of Act 2 (up to Bust) of Dieselpunk. Disc 3: Second Half of DO plus New Albion 7. Disc 4: Acts 1 and 2 of Atompunk Disc 5: Acts 3 & 4 of Atompunk Disc 6: The Room Beneath New Albion
Boom. 4 album, 6 discs. Problem solved.
Does anybody have a problem with this? It’s less elegant but it WORKS.
So, we’re back on track. All is good. Everything is how it was supposed to be in the beginning. You get a complete New Albion package. 3 operas and a new bonus album in one set.
I will NOT make individual CDs at this juncture although i will likely make a few steampunk operas. Steampunk opera discs make sense. They make great gifts. If you’re getting other albums in the series though, screw it, ya might as well just get the full monty. (also there’s NO WAY financially i can possibly afford to make both box sets and separate CDs of each album. Like, NO way.)
So unless i get a flood of mail here complaining, i’m going to break the elegant approach, do the tracks as mentioned and fit the entire thing on the box set so you have the new album too.
Lastly, PLEASE do the poll if you plan to buy a 6 CD set. The vote is overwhelming in favor of the set, but at this point it’s not about the options, the number of votes is CRUCIAL to the amount of 6 CD sets i’m going to manufacture.
If current plans stay on track, this should be available in early December. Just in time for Christmas.
