New Albion 1: Kayleigh McKnight

Let’s start at the very beginning (a very good place to start…)

Over the next few days (okay, week and a half) i present to you all the completed recordings. We shall begin with Act 1, which has been recorded in full.

And Act 1 begins with this song, New Albion 1.

Each Act covers a consecutive generation, and thus each Act begins with a version of the song New Albion. (Hence the number 1. There is a 2,3 and 4 also) The song, of course, evolves and changes with each appearance, but this is the first and most… iconic version.

It is sung by our Narrator and our Narrator here is none other than the stunning and talented Kayliegh McKnight.

.She has much more of a range than i utilized, but the fact is, as soon as i heard her alto it was over for me. That was the sound. I had her sing all her parts in that gorgeous alto and it now defines the Narrator’s range for me. Kayleigh will be popping up again throughout the coming tracks, but the opening of the show is all her.

Here she is, (expletive beginning with an f and ending in -ing) nailing New Albion 1:

  1. Valuable info. Fortunate me I found your web site by chance, and I am surprised why this accident didn’t took place in advance! I bookmarked it.

  3. At the risk of sounding like a brace of fire ants just invaded my bloomers….oh my stars and garters! The score is sounding like a vintage cocktail with a hint of Kurt Wiell for an olive, but curiously original too. Ms. McKnight dishes it straight up as well. I guess I will be buying this score one song at a time.

  5. I’m not using SoundCloud at all at the moment, and this Bandcamp player is working flawlessly on my end. Judging by the comments i’m getting on other platforms, others are able to play it. Not sure why you can’t…
