Cocktail Hour: The Final Encore

Folks, as much as i’ve had a blast performing The Cocktail Hour over the past 6 weeks, the toll of learning an entire set every single week coupled with my desire to get to work on The Donner Party album, means that next week will be the final Cocktail Hour.

As such, the rules for requesting are going to be something much easier on me: You can request an encore performance of something already played OR something from my catalogue. If it’s one of mine, then it does not have to be something i’ve performed. For that, i will sit and relearn it.

I will choose based on which are the most requested.

It has been wonderful to have a space with all of you this past month and a half, and perhaps i will do some of these randomly every now and then, but this time is coming to a close. It has been an honor to perform for you, a true honor, but it is time for me to start composing again.

So, remember, requests are either an encore of something from the past 6 weeks, or something from my catalogue. See you Thursday for the last hurrah, and thank you all so much for your time and presence. It has been a joy.

Let's connect! Here is where you can find me:

  1. I’ve really enjoyed these, and the last week’s was great, despite the worries.

I’m not going to make a request because I couldn’t help myself if I did.

  2. Thank you so much for these weeks Paul, absolutely amazing to see your performances of various songs throughout.

Moving to your extensive catalog, I think I’d most like to hear your performance of Labyrinths, seconding and thirding a couple of comments I’ve seen here.

You’re an amazing man, and I can’t wait to see what happens with The Donner Party.

  3. A fantastic several weeks of your creativity and dolcet tones applied to songs over the ages <3

Given the rules this week, my request remains the same for "Lost Night's Lullaby," though adding as well, please, is the first I heard with your voice which still swoons my ears, "Elysian Night."

Looking forward to the Donner Party, wishing the best for your family (doges included) and lovely village πŸ™‚

  4. Thanks for the wonderful weeks, Paul. I’d still love to hear you do Solomon from the Cthulhu album, if possible… Bless you.

  5. There are so many songs from your catalogue that I would love to hear, but I don’t want to request too many so I’m limiting myself to three.

I would really like something from Katy Shaw. I’ve been requesting “Without Her”, but I’d be just as happy with anything else from the album that you might feel like doing.

I would also like to put in a vote for “Labyrinths” as it’s one of my favourites.

and “Jack of Ash” would be amazing if you wanted to do that one.

I have really enjoyed these the last few weeks so thank you for performing for us! I really appreciate how much work you must have put into learning everything every week. I, unfortunately, have work during the final one, so I won’t be able to catch it live, but I’ll for sure be watching it afterwards.

  6. I would love Sublimity from Gadfly, it’s one of my absolute favorites and I turn to it everytime I need a good cry–though I also second Elysian Night, it’s a classic! Thank you so much for doing these, looking forward to the finale!

  7. I just had an idea for a New Albion medley. A tour of the city throughout the ages all in one song sounds like it would be really cool

    1. but that’s work, and you’re trying to take it easy this week. So I would be just as happy with New Albion 1. It would be nice to see you perform the song that got me (and quite a few others) originally hooked into this wonderful world you’ve created.

  8. Whatever you’ll sing will be great but if you don’t have enough requests, I’d like to hear Blue Queen from Anamnesis. Thank you for your time and efforts !

  9. I’d love to hear you sing Candy Store/Candy Man again.
One of my favorite covers/mashups from the podcast.

  10. Hi Paul! I’d like to hear either Solomon from the Cthulhu album, or Jordan (Dawn) from Anamnesis πŸ˜€

  11. An amazing final song would be the story of Raven. Floozy fan mail optional.
