It will take another 2 months to finish The Lost Fairy, The Fairypunk Series 3, the final installement in the Fairypunk series. On paper i may seem really far along, only 2 more songs to compose after all, but that’s deceiving. There’s an enormous amount of editing, enormous, and i really need to make sure i dont screw it all up on the landing to this series, which is going very, very well.
After that, however, we’re going to do a one off album. We’re going to go back to Dieselpunk era for a very jazz influenced noir album. Dark, intimate, an exploration of New Albion’s seedy underbelly in the war torn deiselpunk era featuring a young, washed out junkie named Katy and some interactions with a number of surprise characters.
Im mulling over the plot now, but im fairly certain it will be next up after The Lost Fairy. It’s perfect, a nice of genre pace, a more condensed set of acoustic oriented instrumenst after the high tech shenanigans of the fairypunk series. Very period specific, scaled down, the exact thing im in the mood to tackle next.
So there you go. I’m currently reading a bunch of noir and crime fiction to help percolate plot ideas.

Nice, I recall your review of Perdido Street Station, and how it had all of these wonderful worldbuilding details that made the world really seem expansive. The smallest merchant could have a story wonderful enough to make a whole new book.
That has always been true of your worlds too.
Thanks for the update, and good luck Katy; you’re in for a wild ride.
