H.P. Lovecraft’s The Silver Key Now Available On Bandcamp Page

The Silver Key Ah Pook The Destroyer

A remastered version of an album i did last year or so with Matthew Broyles under the band name Ah Pook The Destroyer has been remastered and is now up on my Bandcamp page.

The album is the closest thing to a classic rock album i’ve ever done.

It was done in a rather interesting collaboration. After deciding that we were going to do a project based on H.P. Lovecraft’s story The Silver Key, we never spoke again about how to go about the project. We never decided on any kind of direction or plan. He would simply send me guitar riffs. I would build tracks around them, but sparse tracks which i would then send back to him. He would overdub guitar as he wished, send back to me, and eventually when one of us stopped sending it back, the track was declared done.

After all the tracks were made musically, we divided up which tracks we would write lyrics or sing for. It ended up a hodgepodge as some he would do the verses, i the choruses, and on others one of us would simply sing the entire song. Although you never knew when one of us would decide to add harmonies.

Thus an entire albums was made by emailing tracks back and forth over the internet, with nary a discussion about what we were doing. We both discovered later that we had actually approached the project with very different visions but didn’t know that until a radio interview some time after the album was released.

I have remastered it to improve sound quality just a hair and as agreed, we are both putting it up on our repsective Bandcamp pages as well as our Ah Pook The Destroyer site. We occasionally talk of doing another project, but the right idea has yet to come to one of us.

In the meantime, here is the most rock-like, Pink Floydy, bandish album i’ve ever made. The Silver Key by Ah Pook The Destroyer.
