Listen to something awesome.<\/p>\n<p>The beat era produced numerous interesting spoken word oddities. Some of my favorite little bits are by the wonderful Ken Nordine.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Nordine did a lot of voiceovers from the 40s through the 60s and as you&#8217;ll hear his voice is perfect for commercials and movie trailers of the time. However at the height of the 50s beat era he recorded a series of albums of these wonderful little spoken word jems. His style he termed Word Jazz, although it&#8217;s less poetry and more brilliant little off kilter stories.<\/p>\n<p>We shall feature two of them today.
