{"id":3358,"date":"2012-07-01T15:45:54","date_gmt":"2012-07-01T15:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/steampunkopera.wordpress.com\/?p=3358"},"modified":"2012-07-01T15:45:54","modified_gmt":"2012-07-01T15:45:54","slug":"edward-gorey-illustrating-lovecraft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulshapera.com\/temp\/edward-gorey-illustrating-lovecraft\/","title":{"rendered":"Edward Gorey Illustrating Lovecraft?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over at <a href=\"http:\/\/lovecraftzine.com\/\">Lovecraft eZine<\/a> they&#8217;ve got a <a href=\"http:\/\/lovecraftzine.com\/2012\/05\/03\/what-if-edward-gorey-illustrated-lovecraft\/\">wonderful post<\/a> featuring pics of\u00a0Danish\u00a0artist\u00a0John Kenn Mortensen in which he basically channels artist Edward Gorey (the Gashlycrumb Tinies anyone?) illustrating Lovecraft.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m gonna repost these pics (to be fair i&#8217;m basically reprinting the post because time is not my friend today and shame and i have never been close.) They are very awesome i assure you.<\/p>\n<p>The artist, John\u00a0Kenn Mortensen has an awesome blog <a href=\"http:\/\/johnkenn.blogspot.com\/\">here<\/a>, and his blurb is, and i quote: <em>&#8220;BORN IN DENMARK 1978. I WRITE AND DIRECT TELEVISION SHOWS FOR KIDS. I HAVE A SET OF TWINS AND NOT MUCH TIME FOR ANYTHING. BUT WHEN I HAVE TIME I DRAW MONSTER DRAWINGS ON POST-IT NOTES&#8230; IT IS A LITTLE WINDOW INTO A DIFFERENT WORLD, MADE ON OFFICE SUPPLIES.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To reiterate, most of these are all drawings drawn on post-it notes.<\/p>\n<p>When it&#8217;s all said and done, the world is an awesome place.<\/p>\n<p>You can buy John&#8217;s artwork in book form <a
