It was created in 2004 by the French theater company Royal de Luxe to commemorate the centenary of Jules Verne&#8217;s death and\u00a0commissioned\u00a0by two French cities, Amiens and Nantes..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"the sultan's elephant\" src=\"http:\/\/steampunkopera.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/04\/014.jpg?w=300&#038;resize=491%2C306\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"306\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The show takes 3 days to perform, is free, and occurs outside on the streets of the city. Its biggest performance was in London in May of 2006.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Basically on day 1 a rocket crashes into some town square (in London it was Waterloo Place).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"the sultan's elephant\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chimpomatic.com\/file-uploads\/large\/sultans_elephant_01.jpg?resize=398%2C432\" alt=\"\" width=\"398\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">The elephant arrives carrying the Sultan to see what&#8217;s going on.
